Setting up a blog is something that we've been thinking of doing for a while now, we just didn't know how or where to start. We may have it (mostly) all figured out over on 'the gram', but when it comes to blogging, we're complete newbies!
We decided to finally take the leap, and after spending some time researching into blogging platforms and how this whole blogging thing works, we learned that we could set up a blog within our existing website (yes, we didn't know that - clueless!).
So here we are, winging it and writing our very first post.
You see, we've recently hit 50,000 followers on Instagram and wanted to do something special to mark the occasion. Simply hosting a giveaway or consuming a cake in celebration of this amazing milestone didn't feel like enough. We came to the conclusion that setting up a blog in order to share more content with our audience would be the best way to celebrate!
We still cannot believe that Same Sex Parents now has over 50k followers. As much as it's not about that number, it's about the community, the love, the support and the people behind the usernames that make up that figure. The sheer amount of love and support our platform has gained is something we never imagined.
Same Sex Parents was founded four years ago and has always had three main aims; to connect, to inspire, and to educate.
To connect - by providing a safe space for families from all over the world to connect with one another, build friendships and share their stories, experiences and advice.
To inspire - by inspiring aspiring parents and LGBTQ+ youth by showing them that their dream of having a family doesn't have to remain as a dream, it can be a reality.
Lastly, to educate - by educating the world that LGBTQ+ families DO exist and are no different to heterosexual/cisgender families. We are just as capable of raising happy, healthy, well-adjusted children as they are. We aim to show the world that families come in many different shapes and sizes, and to help people to become more mindful of this fact.
We're trying out some new things with Same Sex Parents this year and have a lot of projects going on 'behind the scenes' - some of which seem better suited to a blogging platform as opposed to our Instagram platform. Instagram limits captions to 2,200 characters, and sometimes that's just not enough space to share what we want to share. Therefore, our blog will now be the place in which we share our projects with a large amount of content.
We're so excited to share our upcoming projects with you all. We've been feeling very inspired and full of ideas lately! We also have more content and ideas planned for our website - which is in serious need of updating, so stay tuned for that!
